NEWS (OF THE 2012 WEATHER) Ever since the drought was announced at the beginning of the year, we've had nothing but rain! This Western Power vehicle got stuck in the floods at Darlaston recently. You'd think the lads parked up and the water rose, wouldn't you? I have this story on good authority. The road was already closed when the Power lads arrived. The Police said "you won't get through without a 4X4". "Thet's OK. This is a 4X4!" They replied. Then they drove into the water and started to float. They couldn't reverse out because the wheels were off the floor. This is where it sank!

Other things from 2012: TRF Peak District Park Demo Peak District National Park Authority are proposing closing many of the best green lanes in the park. The Trail Riders are not happy! I was on this one. POLICE COMMISSIONAIR ELECTIONS More people vote in X-Factor than turned out for the Police and Crime Commissionair elections. ELECTION SPECIAL: So. We voted out the prime minister we didn't vote in and replaced him with one who got less than 50% of the vote. He got in by joining the third placed party. What's worse? I'll tell you - I am now, for the first time in my life, older than the serving PM!!!! Nuff said about politics! EDITORS 2012 RANT This time it's all about music. Back in the seventies LP's and single were sold to us in their millions. The sound quality was pretty good and if you get one out of the loft now it will work as well as ever. In the eighties along came CD's. CD's are a conveniant size and the sound quality fantastic. They may not be as durable as we were lead to believe but they are pretty darn good. We have advanced so far now we can all burn our own CD's. You'd think things could only get better. Wouldn't you? Now in the twenty first century everything is heading towards downloads. iPods and mp3 players proliferate and the CD market is collapsing. Has anyone played one of these downloads through a hifi? They sound crap compared to a CD or LP! The music industry has wound the quality back forty years and Joe Public is buying it. Rant Over. |
